We saw Jai cull the images of Anna earlier. She now makes her final selections and begins her raw processing in Capture One.
Jai’s retouching workflow takes us from the raw processing to preparing the image. In her preparation phase, Jai concentrates on adjusting areas of the image using liquify before moving into healing the skin and correcting blemishes.
Dodging and burning is a technique of adjusting shadows and highlights to match nearby pixels. This technique is a critical step in making sure transition areas of the skin appear cleaner and blemishes seem less prominent.
Frequency separation breaks the skin into separate components, dividing out color and texture to be worked on individually. In this step, Jai fine-tunes the image through final clean-up and color grading.
