  • Welcome To The Full Build

    Episode 1

    By now you’re on your way to creating awesome artwork in 3D! This will be a lesson in taking a model, provided by another artist or maybe from a client and carrying that model into a completed, deliverable state.

  • Examination Of The Model

    Episode 2

    As with anything that is about to get photographed we have started with an examination of the subject matter. In the 3D environment, this begins with breaking down the model to check for waves, artifacting, and other visual imperfections.

  • Building The Environment

    Episode 3

    At this phase, Dustin starts to build out the studio environment that the mouse will be “shot in.” There are a number of factors from the environment which will impact the model, Dustin starts to breakdown his thought process for approaching these factors.

  • Building Composition and Camera Angle

    Episode 4

    Dustin walks you through his thought process on creating a beautifully composed product shot for the 3D mouse. Making creative decisions along the way to bring that ultimate shot to life.

  • Lighting The Object

    Episode 5

    After setting up the environment Dustin talks about how to add light to the scene, all while making sure all the details of the mouse are highlighted appropriately.

  • Tactical Pause

    Episode 9

    Dustin does a final, prerender review of the model, its overlaid materials, and the lighting over the entire 3D model. Once he has inspected everything, made final adjustments, he renders the whole image to get it ready for post-processing in Photoshop.

  • Post Production

    Episode 10

    For the final phase of the project Dustin imports the mouse into Photoshop to do the final touches on the project. Here we sharpen, dodge and burn, brighten, and do basic retouching on the final rendered image.
